As per IS 1195 - 2002.
Hardness Number is the depth of indentation made by a 6.35 mm Dia flat-ended indenter under a load of 31.7 kg at a temperature of 35°C ± 0.5°C in a specified time.
The apparatus consists of double walled water bath with stirring facility, housed in steel cabinet. The load is applied through a level and can be withdrawn after the specified time. Suitable to operate on 230V, 50 Hz, Single Phase, AC supply. Complete with Sample Dish and Dial Gauge of 25 mm travel with 0.01 mm least count.

The apparatus consists of thermostatically heated, double walled water bath with stirring facility, housed in steel cabinet. The load is applied through a level and can be withdrawn after the specified time. Suitable to operate on 230V, 50 Hz, Single Phase, AC supply. Complete with Sample Dish, Glass thermometer having range from -10°C to 100°C with an accuracy of 0.5°C and Dial Gauge of 25 mm travel with 0.01 mm least count.
